My Work

My work is across a variety of domains, as befitting my varied skills and interests.

Theatre

In Perth French Theatre's production of Le cercle des illusionnistes by Alexis Michalik, I played Antonia, a magician's assistant. I also helped out backstage, where I found my passion for project management and logistics extended well to managing the props.

In our next production, I'm excited to play two very fun and over-the-top characters!

Road Projects

The great thing about being a traffic engineer is that your projects are actual places in the world, instead of making a mining conveyor belt more efficient or something. The bad thing about being a traffic engineer is most of my projects are filed in a drawer somewhere waiting for funding to magically be available.

Here's a selection of projects that I've worked on that have been completed:
  • New freeway merge lines (youtube video) - as far as I can tell, Perth drivers still can't merge
  • Marmion Avenue / Hepburn Avenue and Marmion Avenue / Whitfords Avenue upgrades (media link)
  • Fremantle Pedestrian Shared Path upgrade (project link)

My role in projects is generally preliminary design work and treatment selection, so the detailed and design and construction of these projects were handled by other project managers.

Food

I love cooking and eating; here are some of my more photogenic dishes. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Fiction

I've written a 140,000 word vampire romance novel as a co-writing project a good friend under the shared pseudonym of Angela Castir. It is called "Vampire Flower Language" and is set in Rome, Corsica, and Ohio in the 1940s, particularly around World War II.

You can read it on Archive of Our Own, which will also allow you to download it in a variety of ebook formats.

Its goal was never commercial or critical success, which is good, as it has achieved neither!
